Extra Day
5000 photos!

Again, because I was at the mercy of the aiirlines, I had to stay an extra day and glad I did!! I revisited Orsay
and the Louvre and the La Défense.                 The La Défense was not as pleasant or exciting as everything else

but it had some extraordinarily interesting art features. La Défense is the modern high-rise and office-tower district of Paris,                    located beyond the arrondissements of central Paris at the start of the western outskirts of the city,

beyond the last Parisian loop of the river Seine. La Défense is the site of the Grand Arc, one of Paris' most modern and imposing landmarks, situated at the western end of the grand axis formed by the Champs-Elysées, the Place de la Concorde and the Arc de Triomphe.

Where the Louvre is the place to be in Paris if you love old art, La Defense is the same for modern art-lovers. Both modern architecture and modern art visible here. This tip is about some beautiful pieces of art in the centre of La Defense: One of the most colourful pieces of art is definitely the fantasy-sculptures of Joan Miro, at the central square in from of the Grande Arche.  The red-blue-yellow-white and black shapes suggest that only childish fantasy can bring life into a concrete desert like La Defense.

I'm no fan of modern architecture, but I was duly impressed by the sheer scale of the thing. Then after this, I went down to the bus station and got the No. 73. It took me through La Défence and down to the Arc de Triomphe, where I could have gotten off and walked down the Champs Elysées, but stayed on the bus all the way to the Place de la Concorde. All for the price of one bus ticket.

From here I caught the metro to the Opera                 and found a Starbucks                  and walked down to the Louvre

to wait for some dusk

shots.          While there I helped an Italian get on Bus 69, my good deed for the day and later caught it myself. While waiting for the bus the Italians son found out I was not married, have 3 cats and a dog and a job..gotta love the Italians.

I wish I had another week!!!!!!
